Our two "Writing for the Real World" online courses cover the most common problems in workplace writing and show you how to correct them, using a friendly, down-to-earth, and easy-to-understand teaching approach. We aren't here to make you feel bad about your business writing skills; we are here to help you improve your writing quickly so that you can succeed at work.
We offer two e-courses: "Making Your Writing Correct" (described below) and "Making Your Writing Clear and Concise." Both courses are designed for busy professionals who speak English well, but who need to touch up their writing skills.
E-Course Description
Making Your Writing Correct is a four-week, self-paced e-course that reviews some of the most common grammar and punctuation errors, along with other frequent faux pas, such as using the wrong word (e.g., its versus it's, that versus which). We'll also review how to fix misplaced modifiers, run-ons, and incomplete sentences.
Week 1: The parts of speech, levels of editing, and confusing word pairs (e.g., it's v. its, that v. which)
Week 2: Pronoun problems and punctuation problems
Week 3: Subject-verb agreement
Week 4: Malfunctioning modifiers and run-ons/incomplete sentences
Kivi Leroux Miller, president of Writing911.com, teaches the class. Kivi has been teaching highly rated writing workshops since 1998.
